THE YOUTH TEAM
Simon has been at West Van United since 2010. Prior to that, he was busy living on as little money as possible, loving people, and relentlessly pursuing God. Which, now that you mention it, sounds a lot like what he’s doing now. Simon loves kittens, gummy bears, and trying to figure out how prayer works.
Meghan moved to Vancouver in September 2013 after getting married (we’ll let you take a wild guess who her husband is). She LOVES the mountains. And the ocean. And the trees. And pretty much everything about BC – yes, even the rain, which makes her laugh wildly. Her joy is contagious, and her faith unshakeable (so, she’s like a porcupine with a cold?).
Dylon has been serving as youth leader and Sunday Club Director since March 2010. During the day, he works construction, which is why when we go Mexico with the youth group, he pretty much builds the house on his own while the rest of us figure out where the hammers are. Dylon has a wild, complex sense of humour that baffles even the most crafty of coyotes (which he chases, for fun).
Katie has been involved with the teens at West Van United since March 2010. For a living, she works in the Downtown Eastside for an organization that works alongside the women and children of the neighbourhood. She loves food, and makes it with abundant creativity, which she swirls around her like a laughing koala.
Sydney is one of the original! When in high school, she showed up 7 years ago after a great summer at Keats Camp asking about our youth group – well, she was it! Since has since graduated not only high school, but also university, and is now an integral part of the youth team!
Julie grew up in our church, which means that she knows every good hiding spot, every secret passage, and, more importantly, where all the candy is hidden. Aside from organizing the Oppenheimer Project on a monthly basis, she prepares coffee for Sunday mornings every week, while also always being available to drive older people who don’t have rides to church.
